Summer 2022 course cancellations

Whom is it for?

Men and women over 18 residing in France or abroad

High school diploma (baccalaureate type) recommended

What is it for?

To understand and be understood in French; to discover French culture and the region.

When and how long?

A comprehensive program of 40 to 80 hours (20 hours a week) and an outstanding cultural experience in the heart of the St. Etienne region from Aug. 1 to Aug 26, 2022:

  • Face-to-face courses in French as a foreign language (18 hours a week): Communicative, active and hands-on teaching approach using role-play, authentic documents, etc.
  • Each week of class revolves around a core theme. A few examples: media and communication, French history and heritage, science and technology, architecture and the city, French gastronomy, nature and the environment, and finally arts and culture.
  • Weekly teaching project (2 hours a week) : prepared in the multi-media resource center and presented at the end of the week. Enhancement of written and oral comprehension and expression skills.
  • Socio-cultural activities: Touristic excursions through the Rhône-Alpes region, museum visits, sports tournaments, cultural evenings, games and competitions, nautical activities on the Loire River, etc.

Classes are organized by language level groups (test given on the first day of the course): 19 students maximum per class.

For all levels, 2 week minimum enrollment: Aug. 1-12 or Aug. 16-26.
Beginners are obliged to start on Aug. 1.
No beginners will be accepted on Aug 16.

Fee

380€ (2 weeks) or 600€ (4 weeks) for individual applicants.
612€ (2 weeks) or 1,080€ (4 weeks) if paid by a third party (Pôle Emploi, employer).

How to enroll?

You're funding your training on an individual basis

Download the individual registration form for summer 2022 (Word - 242Ko)  and return it, filled in and signed, to cilec @ univ-st-etienne.fr before June 17, 2022 accompanied by proof of your level and proof of payment.

A test of your level will be given on the first day of your training.

Payment channels and conditions for reimbursement
Payment of registration fees (not including the CVEC: Student and Campus Life Contribution) shall be done by bank transfer during the period indicated in the summer school registration form. Bank charges linked to international transfers are to be paid by the student. The University shall receive the exact amount corresponding to the price of the desired training period. Cancellation will only be possible for the following reasons: refusal of visa, failure to pass high school graduation exam, serious illness, death of a parent or sibling, training which is cancelled on decision by the institution.
A request for a reimbursement form shall be sent by e-mail to the following address: cilec@univ-st-etienne.fr. It shall then be returned to the CILEC duly completed and shall include all supporting documents translated into French (notice of refusal of visa, medical certificate, etc.). If the request is approved, reimbursement shall be done via bank transfer. Please note: in case of reimbursement request for course fees, a lump sum of 85 € for administrative handling costs shall be deducted. Cancellations for other reasons (enrollment in another institution, for example, or distance-learning systems, before or during the course) shall not result in reimbursement.
Any linguistic stay which has been started is due in full. No refunds are possible.

You're requesting funding from your employer or Pôle Emploi

Ask for the continuing education (FC) funding registration form for summer 2022 and return it, filled in and signed, to cilec @ univ-st-etienne.fr before June 17, 2022.
An online test will be sent to you and an oral interview will be set up.
A quote or agreement will then be sent to your employer or Pôle Emploi.

The students are not insured for the various CILEC leisure activities. Before their departure, they must take out an individual insurance policy covering all risks inherent to their travel and their stay. The CILEC in no way can be held liable for any problems

The CILEC reserves the right to cancel a language level group if the number of enrolled participants is insufficient. Due to the health crisis linked to the Covid-19 epidemic, measures planned for in-person teaching sessions may possibly need to be changed into remote sessions, so as to ensure teachers’ and students’ safety.
